There has definitely been an advantage of the language barrier. Try speaking at the dinner table about going to an amusement park tomorrow and see what happens. Around our dinner table - nothing. No excitement, no acknowledgement. They have no idea what we are talking about. We talk about gifts we still have to give them - and they know nothing. We talk about packing treats and chocolate - nothing.
It's a fun advantage to have that won't last much longer. They are picking up on context clues.
