A Great Day for Johan

If Sunday wasn't a day to repeat, then today definitely was. Johan had a great day. (Dayana did too but most of her day was at school.) After we dropped Dayana off in her classroom, we walked through the gym on our way out and Mrs. M let us "test" her setup for class. Johan got to throw frogs through a hoop and he thought that was great fun. "Thank You" he said as we left. Good attitude to start the day.

Once we were home, I thought he would want to play outside so I opened the house / garage door and he went to get cars to play with. I started cleaning the garage. He never came out the door but played within sight of me with his tractors from Papaw and his dump truck from Neena. He played for over an hour, imagining something and talking in different voices. This is pretty normal for most kids but is something that Johan did not do for the first two months of his life with us. He didn't know how to play. He always needed a companion. Now he is imagining and creating and playing like other little boys.

Around noon, Mary and C came over. Apparently, he snarled his little nose at Mary when she drove up. (I wish I had a picture of the look he makes when he is subconciously frustrated - the left side of his nose twitches.) But to me he happily said, "It's Mary." We took the two kids to lunch at Pei Wei (Johan had a packed lunch) and then...

WE PARKED RIGHT NEXT TO SOME DIGGERS! We sat in the parking lot at BW3's for about an hour and watched and watched with our face pined to the glass. Okay, Mary and I talked but Johan was enthralled with the digging. "Look at that!" I only had my phone with me so the picture is not the best.

Once the diggers stopped working we buckled in and came home. Just as C was about to go home, she discovered the water in our curb (everyone's pumps have been busy). She and Johan played for about another hour in the curb ditch - making dams, splashing with rocks, finding worms, smacking water everywhere with sticks - great messy fun.

We ended our afternoon with half of the Jonah Veggie Tale before going to get Dayana at school (videos substitute for naps these days - rest time, soon we will add books). We finished Jonah with Dayana and then went to the neighbors for trampoline time.

From dinner, to walking the dog, Dora, and devotions, Johan maintained a happy attitude nearly without fail for the entire day. God is good.
